Anonymity by design

Ex Oblivione is built around anonymity. There are no accounts, no profiles, no logins. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information. We designed the system so that even we cannot identify you — and that's deliberate. You are a voice, not a profile.

What we collect

When you submit content, we store only:

  • Your audio recording or written text
  • The language you selected
  • The date and time of submission

That's it. We do not collect your IP address, browser fingerprint, location, cookies, or any tracking identifiers. There are no hidden fields, no silent data collection.

How content is stored

Submissions are initially stored on secure cloud infrastructure for review. During this period, submissions can be deleted upon request.

Accepted submissions are permanently archived on Arweave, a decentralized storage network. The archived data includes only the submission content, the language tag, and a timestamp. No personal information is included because none was collected.

Content on Arweave is permanent and cannot be deleted — by us, by you, or by anyone. However, we control the links between our QR codes and the archived content. If necessary, we can deactivate a QR code so it no longer leads to the submission, even though the underlying data remains on the network.

Analytics

We use privacy-focused, cookieless analytics to understand how people find and use this site. Our analytics collect only aggregate, anonymous data: page views, referrers, countries, and device types. No cookies are set, no IP addresses are stored, and no individual visitors can be identified. There is no session recording, no cross-site tracking, and no advertising pixels of any kind.

QR codes

QR codes placed in physical locations link to archived submissions. When you scan a QR code, the link may include a non-personal identifier that tells us which placement was scanned (for example, a city or batch reference) but not who scanned it. No personal data is collected through QR code interactions.

Bot protection

The submission form uses invisible bot protection to verify that submissions come from real people, not automated scripts. It runs silently in the background — no puzzles, no visible elements. It does not track you across sites or store personal data. For details, see our provider's Privacy & Data Protection and Privacy Addendum.

Third-party services

We rely on a small number of third-party services to operate: secure cloud infrastructure for hosting and temporary storage, a decentralized network for permanent archival, and privacy-focused tools for analytics and bot protection. Typefaces are self-hosted and do not involve any third-party requests. None of these services receive personal data about you, because we don't collect any.

Removal requests

Submissions that have not yet been archived can be removed upon request. Once archived on the decentralized network, the underlying data cannot be deleted — that's by design. However, we can deactivate the QR code that links to it, effectively removing it from public discovery. If you have concerns, contact us before submitting.
